Deaf Awareness Charity
Reminding students of the importance of charity and helping the community as part of their SMSC development, Abdul Hakim and his team delivered a beautiful presentation in an all-school assembly. Students and teachers learnt how deaf Muslims learn about Islam and how difficult it is to read the Qur’an for them. They learnt about the dreadfulness of disability-bullying and the terrible effects it can have on people, taught to them through the combined efforts of a deaf sister and her interpreter.
Both sisters engaged with the students, marvellously teaching them the alphabet, how to say Masha’Allah and even how to say Assalam’ualaikum wa Rahmatullah (“Peace be upon you”) in sign language!
